Hubble Model Builders

Hubble Space Telescope modelA scale model of the Hubble Space Telescope can be an attractive exhibition component. Hubble rendered as a computer animation can be an important part of videos, films, and planetarium shows.

Finding accurate references for building Hubble models can be difficult. Here we offer a collection of resources that can help. We regret that we cannot provide further assistance with Hubble model building beyond what’s posted here.

For guidance in putting the right textures on your model, check out our links to images of Hubble elsewhere on this site. This zip file contains a smattering of images in various formats that may help.

There are two logos on the telescope, an old-style NASA logo (no longer used, but current when Hubble was launched) and an ESA logo (European Space Agency). These files are in encapsulated postscript (eps) format. You can open them in common-vector illustration programs, such as Adobe Illustrator. Some pixel-based image editors, such as Adobe Photoshop, can also open and rasterize eps files to any desired pixel resolution.

Finally, if you’d like to build a simple model of Hubble for home or school use, see the Hand-Held Hubble section of HubbleSite.
